By Chris Shipman, Chairman of Orchard & Shipman
On the evening of 13 December we invite you to come along and have fun with us at Jingle Bell Rock to raise money for two wonderful causes: Liam's Fund and Kids'n'Cancer.

Orchard & Shipman have recently embarked on a leadership development course to develop skills in our up and coming managers. An important part of that program involves being aware of and taking an active part in the communities we operate in. Most of us individually contribute to good causes that mean something to us and our families, but this recognises that together as an organisation we have a collective responsibility for our community and the places that we live and work in. We also know that by working together we can have a bigger impact than working on our own!
We are delighted to be raising money for Liam’s Fund and Kids ‘n’ Cancer UK. We can all empathise with the stress, heartache and occasionally the tragedy of having a seriously ill family member or friend and the impact that can have. There are many good causes around the UK, but we have chosen to support Liam’s Fund as he lives locally to several of our offices and many of our staff feel a personal connection to this cause.
Liam’s fighting spirit is inspirational and puts into context how minor the challenges are that most of us face on a day to day basis; so we are going to stop moaning about toothaches, a sniffy nose and that terrible traffic jam we have been battling through and see if we can help add to the excellent work Liam’s fundraisers have done so far!
The evening will begin at 7:30pm with our Festive DJ. Local businesses have donated prizes towards the auction, tombola and raffle including anything from a spray tan to fitness classes and a signed and framed shirt from Celtic FC. There is definitely something for everyone!
Liam is a nine year old boy from Maidenhead who is full of laughter and a zest for life. He has an inoperable brain tumour and has a chance for treatment using Proton Therapy. It is such an advanced form of treatment that it is currently unavailable in the UK until 2017. Kids'n'Cancer is a national charity which seeks to assist families in getting access to this treatment in certain situations where they do not qualify for funding from the NHS.
You can see more about Liam's Story by visiting his website or by following the fundraising progress across social media using hashtags #FightForLiam and #FreddiesHero.
